USA: Texas' Oldest Independent Brewery supports the Lance Armstrong Foundation's LIVESTRONG(R) CHALLENGE

The "little brewery" in Shiner announced on March 23 that it has been named the national beer sponsor for the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) LIVESTRONG(R) Challenge. The legendary Shiner, known for its award-winning family of beers, will provide the LAF with event support and hospitality for all 2006 LIVESTRONG Challenge weekend events. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the LAF has become one of the country's leading non-profit organizations, dedicated to inspiring and empowering people affected by cancer.

Shiner, which is fast approaching the century mark in its long brewing heritage, is proud to be the official beer for the LAF's LIVESTRONG Challenge -- a series of five signature fundraising events including a bike ride, run and walk in varying mileage. In addition, the LAF will be the charitable beneficiary of the 8th Annual Shiner B.A.S.H., an iconic Texas cycling event taking place May 6, 2006 with start lines in Austin, San Antonio and Houston. In 2005 the one-day cycling event attracted more than 3,000 riders and culminated with a Texas-size music festival in Shiner, home to the 97-year-old Spoetzl Brewery.
